Remembering 9/11 After 20 Years

As I sit here writing this post on a sunny, bluebird sky day in September, it doesn’t seem like 20 years could have gone by.

2001

It feels like yesterday. I wasn’t even near the area, but Michael was working at his firehouse in the Bronx where he started as a probationary firefighter just one year earlier. After the planes hit the towers, he was relocated several times before he ended up at Ladder 20/Division 1 on Lafayette Street. It was almost impossible to reach him that day, but we spoke briefly and I knew he was safe.

So I waited.

After more than 72 hours he made it home.

2021

We weren’t sure if we should design a piece of art to remember that tragic day. Art that people would want to put up on their walls and look at every day. It was emotional and difficult, but we think we made the right decision.

We are now a proud sponsor of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation and decided to donate 100% of the profits from all sales of this poster to their inspiring organization.

The design represents iconic New York in shades of blue (the way the sky was that day), and honors the loved ones that were lost.
